Exeter offers students the best of both worlds – a thriving city and beautiful Devonshire countryside. Its pub culture is extremely popular, with traditional pubs being the core of nights out whether you dine out on authentic English dinners or just go for a few pints before hitting a club. It also has a number of music venues, but students can expect to hear a lot of upcoming bands playing live in Exeter’s pubs too.
Exeter is also best known for being home to The University of Exeter, which has approximately 19,000 students. It is part of the Russell Group of the best 24 university in the UK, so students can be confident they’ll leave with an excellent degree recognised the world over. It is often listed among the best universities by official rankings and won the title of The Times Higher Education University of the Year 2007/08.
More than 3,000 of these are international students, while a further 4,000-plus foreign students study at The University of Exeter, demonstrating the popularity of this southern city among students from abroad.
